Home Spun comic strip #463

Home Spun comic strip #463

I can recall at least a couple of hikes where my little fashion plate, then 2 or 3, dressed to the nines. Once it was a lovely pink velvet and chiffon party dress. Another time it was a more down-to-earth white cotton slip dress. And of course, no hiking outfit is complete without the shiny white Mary Janes with no tread on the soles. Perfect when you accidentally walk off the trail into brambles and have to climb down a leaf-strewn incline (Marina says it was a cliff) just to find your way back to a path. True story.

I'll bet she sure looked sweet, thought! I have a similar/opposite problem. My daughter refuses to wear dresses. She is most comfortable in sweatpants and sweatshirt. At least I try to buy pink and purple (more feminine but not frilly). I suppose clothing is one area where kids sometimes feel the need to control. There are more important things in life, right?

Have a terrific (and warm, I hope) week!

My neighbor accross the street has a 3 yo daughter who is absolutely in to dress-up dresses ALL the time . . . tutus over tights in the winter (ok, Richmond VA winter isnt NY winter). She even pretends to all down and asks her 'prince' to help her . . .and her 5 yo brother usually obliges! Hysterical!

For a while no hiking trip was complete without a tiara. I once let my 4 year old pack her own bag for a camping trip and she packed only the most fabulous princess dresses. We have great photos from that trip of our muddy disheveled princess. Love your comics.
