Spontaneous discussion has always been an important part of our homeschooling life. Back when we followed the classical form, I was drawn to the teaching style of the great philosophers. For me, teaching should be discussions on various topics whenever a particular subject comes up. We might end up in a talk about space and time after watching a cartoon. Political and ethical discussions happen while reading the newspaper. Science talks are as likely to occur while watching the cats play as they will during a hike. The right question at any moment can become the next topic.
