I think I can honestly say that my children are more resilient than I am. They helped care for the orphan kittens for weeks and then gave them away with a mere fraction of the tears I shed. I suppose I did a better job of convincing them it was a temporary situation than I did convincing myself.

We've cared for some and then had to find them homes, too. It's tough to do.
Yeah, we gave away a fish we had because we felt bad that we were having a hard time remembering to feed and take care of him. I thought some one else could care for him better and he was a pretty tough guy to handle that abuse and live for 2 1/2 years. I thought Emily would be upset, but she didn't care.
