I have invented a new term:
Carpe Degrium /Car' pe De gree' um/- seize the educational opportunity!
I thought of it as I sat shivering outside last night, watching for meteors with Marina. We had finished watching the Olympics and the news came on, where it was mentioned that the Perseid meteor shower was happening right now, so if you were still awake, you might as well go out and have a look.
We did.
Marina had better luck. She saw three. I saw one small one and then decided to call it a night. I'll wait for the Leonids and bring hot cocoa and properly bundle up. I like seizing an educational opportunity, but I also like to be comfortable. I must be getting soft as I get older.
How about you? Do you ever carpe degrium?

I like that word! Yes, we carpe degrium all the time. It's one of our favorite things!
I'm glad you at least got to see one meteor & Marina three.
Great turn of phrase! :-) Yes, I guess we do that a lot.
Yes we do! We missed out on the meteor shower though. I heard on our local news that our viewing time was after 3am - no way I was going to crawl out of bed at that time. LOL
All I can think is how great it is to be shivering in August!
Love, Mom
We missed the meteor shower, too..it was cloudy. And I was asleep.
and - I agree with Mom - it's great to shiver in August.
I just wrote about our Carpe Degrium. :-) love the phrase!!
I love that new phrase!
Ah yes. And I'm actually anxiously awaiting when my kids start getting old enough to wait up with me to see interesting things in the night like a planet or meteor shower.
