As we welcome Not-Back-To-School week, I've started composing a list of the reasons I homeschool. I'm not saying we sleep in every day, but it is nice to know I don't have to be up at the crack of dawn every weekday to make sure everyone gets to school on time.

Post Sept. 1: I'm right with you there! I don't usually get fully ready for the day until after 10 am. I hate it when I need to be ready any earlier. Homeschooling suits me just fine.
Post Aug. 30: I just finished reading Lynn Johnston's Sunday comic and I cried, too! I loved how she finished it and it made me look back on how long I've been a reader - at LEAST 20 years, since I've been reading it at least as long as I've been married. That seems so amazing to me, until I realize I've been reading Peanuts since I was a kid. Funny how comics can become such an institution in one's life? I was hoping to email Lynn so I'll use your link to read what other's have written. You and I sure have a lot in common! I thought I was silly for crying - glad to hear someone else felt the same way!
Post Aug. 29: Every September, since about my high school years, I get depressed. This year, with Todd's surgery and our 20th anniversary, I have been side-tracked (fortunately). But I sure can relate to how you feel. I wish September didn't exist! Fortunately, we are not walking up and down the store aisles with the "list" from our kids' schools telling us what supplies we have to buy just to get them through the school year. Praise the Lord for homeschooling!
Always fun and/or refreshing to read your blog. Smile - and have a terrific week - hope everyone is feeling better!

True! :-)
That is so me. I don't sleep in every morning either and most mornings are a no, but sometimes circumstances happen and it is so nice to not have anywhere to be. I can't imagine people having brand new babies and having to take them out in the cold to get older siblings off to school. That would be one of my reasons that relates to being on someone else's schedule.
I'm so thankful we are able to sleep as long as we need! We tend to stay up (kids too) much later than most - dh's work schedule doesn't allow for the kids to see him before he's off for work (he leaves at 6:30am) and he's often not home until 7pm so staying up late and sleeping later works well for us.
when I was a kid, when people asked me about homeschooling, one of the reasons I gave for liking it was that I got to sleep in.
THIS IS SO APPROPRIATE FOR TODAY!!!! Hahaha. Sadie is still asleep, and Benny is playing Legos. *cackle* I tumbled this completely timely comic here -- http://littleblueschool.tumblr.com
LOL! It's almost like you've been peeking in my bedroom window. I LOVE sleeping in. Unfortunately, that's something the kids and I don't have in common. ;)
