Home Spun comic strip #290

Home Spun comic strip #290

You knew this series was coming, didn't you?

Frankly, I'm not this bad anymore. But there were those early homeschooling days when I just wanted to crawl into bed when it was time to report. (I'm pretty sure my husband will emphatically nod his head and say I WAS in bed.)

The next strip will delve more into the reasons why I don't like reporting. For this strip, I want to point out that I don't mind reporting as much as I used to. I've done it for ten years, so I have a rhythm developed. I'm in one of the more regulated states. This is what I must do to homeschool. I've learned tricks along the way. It helps to take daily or weekly notes on what we've accomplished. Marina keeps track of her own work at this point. Every quarter, I pull out my notes and list books they read and work they accomplished. In a way, stopping to record all we've done helps keep things in perspective. We often do a lot more than I realized, and that makes me feel pretty good about my choice.

I would imagine it also makes you realise how quickly the year passes. We have to do something similar each year (which will be coming soon) and I agree with what you say about helping you realise how much has actually been done.
Blessings,
Paula
