Home Spun comic strip #407

Home Spun comic strip #407

This particular situation works both ways. I've been known to yell out spelling words from the bathroom. Don't laugh, it keeps him on task until I get back.

As you can see, my kids get to answer as many questions as I do about homeschooling. The main question my son gets is about what homeschooling is exactly. This is similar to a question Carolyn (Guilt Free Homeschooling) would get:
"HOMEschooling. How does THAT work?" I was asked these exact words quite often. My response: "Quite well, thank you!" Then I continued the conversation to ask which aspects they were curious about and answer those questions. However, my initial response always resulted in a wide array of facial expressions, from amaze to shock to relief to happiness.
Chase usually answers, "I school at home." He isn't really into elaborating. Especially when the same kids ask him the question repeatedly. They can't seem to wrap their minds around it.

Good morning. I've really been enjoying your series on homeschool FAQs, being that I was homeschooled and can relate to the bombardment of questions. Sorry I havent commented very often, but your blog is on my google reader, which I eagerly check several times a week.

Have you ever thought about making a book of your comics? Homeschooling is becoming more and more popular and a comic book could be an encouragement to many families. Maybe even start out with an ebook.

You are very talented. Thank you for sharing your art.

I wholeheartedly agree with Elizabeth about the cartoon book and the first of its kind E-COMIC BOOK
about home schooling or home education. Go for it, Tina. I'll be happy to write the intro if you need one.
Love, Dad

Yeah, I third the homeschool comic book motion. =)

OTOH of the bathroom debate - I DID used to make my son finish whatever he was working before he went - because he'd go like FIVE TIMES in the morning and would stay in there for 15-30 minutes at a time. GAH! He was totally hiding out in there reading comic books or something.

Thus I had to resort to public school bathroom mentality - except I didn't allow drugs in my bathroom and I didn't go in and beat him up =D ..and my bathroom was clean. Mostly. =D

My favorite response to the 'why isn't your son in school' question, but one which I haven't had the guts to say yet: 'oh, he's an elementary-school drop-out.' I imagine that that might leave some jaws hanging :-)
