Home Spun comic strip #653

Home Spun comic strip #653

Yes, I do this. I have probably counted them more than my children ever did. And no, I never found all ten of each color. I'm sure that some day I will find the hidden gap in the floor that will be full of counting bears in a nest of pens, marker caps and pencil erasers. By then I will probably have gotten rid of the other counters. Murphy's Law of missing objects from a set.

We have the counting bears. Hee hee...they have been used for so many things through the years. They were in fact of of the first "school" things I bought. I am enjoying them in your art. :)

I wish you could hear how hard I am laughing right now. We have a set of these as well. I managed to keep the whole set together until this summer when my little guy got hold of them. We still have not located all 10 of each color, and they keep turning up all over the house in the oddest places. At least he's had fun with them, right?

We had little vehicles (cars, planes, etc.) They were NEVER used for counting, that much I remember. Even cuisenaire(?) rods were used to build things with, seldom for counting. Chad used to line up the rods from one end of the dining room table to the other. Each child is different. It used to frustrate me that they didn't "count" like the marketing hype said they should. Age begets wisdom. (Thank God!) - Kate
