Home Spun reprints #287- Vote!
It seems to me that many people opt not to vote during off-years. That is, years when there are only local elections. I've tried to instill in my children that these local elections can be the most important, since they are most likely to have a direct effect on our lives.
There is no presidential election next Tuesday. Our U.S. senators and representatives are not running for re-election. There are only local candidates this year, and some are even running unchallenged because of the lack of interest in these positions. But for me, this is a significant election year. This year, Marina will be voting for the first time.
Would it be silly if I brought a camera to the polls?

It may be illegal to bring a camera to the polls? I believe there is some such voting law on the books - possible intimidation of voters? You should call your local Board of Elections before you take your camera. I can't believe that Marina is old enough to vote! Hopefully, she has been studying all the local candidates.
Take care, Linda
Umm...I was kidding. Maybe that wasn't clear. I was doing the doting mom thing. :o)
Voting booths are different now and anybody can snap a shot from the distance where what the person is voting for cannot be seen.
Good luk with marina's first votes.
Love, Daad
Wow, Marina has grown up fast. :-)
Go for it, Marina! I'd love to see you run for office some day. Love, Grandma
Oh I can SO relate to this!!! My kids got into a huge fight one year because they all wanted to pull the little levers. It was really bad. I was ready to give them to the retired lady working the sign in table by the time I got through my ballot! We survived, er, they survived anyway. hehe.
