I'm back from PR and missed your commis much.
What experience that was. My oldest sister, Celia, was so happy to see me, her 12th sibbling brother. The hospital setting was not the most appropriate place for her to end her 88 years and just over 2 months of life. Her descendents alone would have caused a terrific jam at the hospital. She had 10 children, all alive, 9 of them married. The 9 reproduced 33 grandchildren for her. And a few married grand children have produced another 30 great grandchildren. I could only picture her surrounded by this cowd of 73 noisy people, sharing their love and respect for her and her dedication and warmth during their entire life. She was a an inspiring, hard working, supporting, caring leader to her tribe. And, to me, she was a sister-mother since she was 16 years old.
I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend a week with her in Sept. 2009. Back then her children bought her a cane to help her move around. She seldom used it to move around her house and garden because it prevented her for using both hands to do -cooking, gardening and farming a few pigeon peas plants and fruits.
Excluding her family, there wereclose to 400 visitors the day of her wake, and Rincon's RC church was full the day after on Friday, Feb 18th 2012 for her funeral. During a brief service cemetery, it rained heavyly. As soon as the service was over, the rain miraculously stopped so that we could proceed to her burial.
more than 15 years after her husband's death, she finally joined Antonio for eternity.
My Love to both Celia and Antonio and their beatiful sadened family.
