That's Alot of Cake!

Another birthday has come and gone and now my firstborn child is nineteen. As usual, I have no idea how it happened and no time to sit back and consider the years. I still have one more cake to bake and one more birthday to celebrate.

Marina let me pick a design for a cake. I chose to make Alot of Cake. Based on the post by Hyperbole and a Half (parental warning: strong language on this site) I came up with this cake:

I'm very happy about how it came out. My velvet cake recipe continues to please me and the whipped cream frosting gave it that fluffy, Muppet like quality. I cut down ice cream cones for horns and chocolate chips of various sizes became pupils for the eyes and toenails. It was a little too cute. I've had this problem before. We didn't have the heart to cut into the head. Until today.

But we avoided looking into its eyes when we finished off the face.

Happy Birthday!, Marina. The cake eyes and look are no less amazing than Marina's first glance at me through the mirror at the hospital when she was born. She tatooed my heart that early. May be the cake tatooed yours as she is born to adulthood. Great memories!, Love,
Dad-Buelo

That cake is splendid! But nope ... I wouldn't be able to look him in the eye, either.
