We been here, at least once I'm certain. Remember paper straws? O.k., I know I'm old, never mind. We had a rough first two weeks of college issues with Chad - I know it's all worth but I could do without the stress! I'm sorry you and Marina had all the hassles but I'm glad things finally worked out. Concerning the post about Marina's art class, I think it's great that she is so interested in stories and finds them important. I wish more young adults were like that and I'm thankful my own son is story-oriented, not focused on the empty prattle that so many young people find fascinating. I think she should be confident that her work is just as valid as anyone else's in the class - fairy tales in themselves are works of art, classics that have stood the test of time. Good job, Marina! Our own community college here is REALLY artsy but it's usually art I'd rather not see (much less my son). For example, the major art exhibit going on right now is called "Womanizing Eve", which mostly consists of partially naked women holding an apple - they even printed one of the photos in the college catalog. How nice of them (not!) I promptly took a Sharpie marker to the "Eve" depicted in the catalog photo. I mean, really, I don't want to be confronted with nudity when I'm trying to help Chad figure out his schedule! It's not even good art, which might have made a difference. Anyway, it's been so busy, I can't believe it's October. I think straws are going to play a role in the Halloween decorations being planned for the front yard - I'll let you know! Take care - Kate

Oh my, did I really say "We been here"?!!! I caught that just as it was disappearing (not unlike the Cheshire cat). Let me rephrase that: "We've been here ..." And I was talking about the straw cartoon, if I didn't make myself clear. That'll teach me to type without my bifocals! - Kate (again)

LOL! I knew what you meant Kate! I think the internet fairies steal words when we hit publish just to make us feel silly. ;o)

Another chuckler! I loved paper straws, except that the ends would get all chewed up and then nothing gets through! Hmmm....there's a lesson here. Love, Mom
