My back went out last Saturday. I'm still waiting for it to return.
I suppose it was inevitable. A month of celebrations, birthday cakes, a graduation and award ceremony was simply too much for it. I am a mom. I support my family. Sometimes literally, but always figuratively. My body needs me to remember that even happy stress is stress and it can only take so much before it wants me to take a break.
Did I ever need a break!
A quick rundown of my month: Cake. Clean the house. Cake and party. Mothers' Day. Clean the house. Curriculum award ceremony for Marina and party. Cake. Cake. Clean the house. Mild back spasm. Graduation (with more cake). Intense back spasm (I sneezed and that did it in). Drive to the city. Spasm. Spasm. Spasm. (Those are the potholes.) Memorial Day.
The drive to the city was absolutely necessary. My son was meeting with a woman who builds armor. Real armor. He's going to spend some time working with her as an apprentice. My husband drove us in, but since I've been the one working out the arrangements for this, I felt obligated to go too. So Chase spent three hours hammering a chest plate while I had some time with my husband. It would have been nice if the weather had cooperated. I'm sure the bitter wind and occasional cold pelting rain didn't help my pain.
I am now at a point where I can sit here and type without feeling my back lock on me. I'm thankful for that. It hasn't been easy this weekend. I feel like I'm in labor again, but this time I've pushed a couple of adults into the world.

Ouch! You poor thing. Take it as easy as possible. And learning how to make a suit of armor - way cool!
Thanks, Kez. I'm doing much better today. And yes, learning how to make armor is very cool!
So glad you're feeling better. Spoke to Lisa yesterday and guess what! She was on her way to the chiropractor. Talk to you soon. Love, Mom
So sorry to hear you've hurt your back. Strangely enough, since my birthday, I have had to deal with a stiff lower back which made walking upright very difficult. I am now 98% better and I sure wish you quick healing. Thank you so much for the nice comment! We want to wish all of your children a belated Happy Birthday! Your cakes look terrific (as usual!) How nice to have that culinary talent. And we want to congratulate Marina on graduating! How exciting for her! She's worked so hard. So proud of her for receiving the curriculum award and carrying the banner for visual arts - wow!! This young woman has a bright future - may God guide her in whatever she sets her mind to do! - Kate
Thank you Kate! I'm feeling better, just stiff, especially if I sit too long.
