Home Spun comic strip #139

Home Spun comic strip #139

For the record, I've never left the house without their shoes. I've come home and found they are missing shoes or socks, though. Footwear seems to be one of the top homeschooling expenses in our house. I still wonder what happened to various socks and a pair of ballet slippers.

When he was younger, my son asked me a very cryptic question about footwear. The sole of one of his shoes had a hole worn through it and he asked why. That part was easy. I told him, "The shoe has just got worn out because it's done so much walking." Next he asked, "Then why doesn't the other one have a hole too? It's done just as much walking?" I couldn't figure out an answer to that on the spur of the moment and even now, sometimes I still wonder what I could've said.
Have a great weekend,
Paula

I continue to be amazed at your artistic ability. I especially love the way you draw Baby Anya. And that traffic jam! Sent me straight to stressville. Love Mom

I usually remember to make sure my kids have shoes, but after driving my daughter's friend to dance class with us I found she had taken off her shoes on our trampoline. We had parked in a lot in downtown Peekskill, planning to walk from there to class. I found a spare pair of my husband"s sandals in the back of the car (sometimes it pays to have a messy car! )and velcroed them to her little feet. My kids still laugh at that.

My small family attended a magic show at the local recently. My dear friend was also there with her 7 children. Her precocious three-year-old sat right down in front. The magician was chatting with the kids before the show and pointed out that the three-year-old had on one boot and one sandal. The very pleased young man announced that he had chosen his shoes himself! My friend had not noticed her son's footwear until that moment. It was hilarious!
