Since Some of You Asked...

My birthday was great!

I spent the morning at a fellow homeschooler's house teaching eleven kids (mine included) how to paint frescoes on plaster. If you've never done plaster frescoes before, I recommend putting together a group--at someone else's house--and giving it a try. They all came up with such interesting designs and I was able to cover three topics in one: art (obviously), history (a little background on frescoes and Leonardo da Vinci), and science (that wonderful chemical reaction that occurs when you mix plaster with water. I had everyone feel the warmth of the plaster by touching the bottom of their containers).

After my art class, we had homemade ice cream cake. I share my birthday with one of my children's friends, so they sang to both of us and the grandmother of the birthday child brought a single red rose for each of us.

Back home that evening, I watched White Christmas with the kids, and my parents came over bearing gifts and more cake. Chocolate this time. Hubby brought home pizza at my request. My sister rounded out the night with a birthday call at 11PM. She's in California, so it was only 8PM for her. She had been visiting over the past few weeks, but because so many of our relatives are concentrated in this area, we never even had a chance to sit down and chat. I think she broke a record for the most family seen in one trip. At least we still have phones...

If any of you have commented lately and I did not respond, I apologize. For some reason Blogger hasn't been notifying me of messages lately. I've been trying to check my blog's main page to see if anything was posted, but if you commented on something older I might have missed it.

Thanks to all who took the time to say Happy Birthday, I appreciate it!

It's so funny, I love that movie White Christmas. Having a birthday near Christmas must suck when it comes to getting gifts, not that Holiday's are all about getting gifts. Well, you seem enjoy the classic movies, so do I. This holiday season I took a job promoting some of my family’s favorite classics that have been compiled into a special gift set called: The ORIGINAL CHRISTMAS CLASSICS. It’s a limited edition DVD box which includes: "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", "Frosty the Snowman", and "Santa Clause is Coming to Town". You can get the set anywhere they sell DVDs or at http://www.christmasclassics.tv. Oh, and it includes a bonus music CD, we play it at my office and it just puts Christmas conviviality into the air. Since, I've been working with them I hear how this was and is the gift that keeps on giving, you can share it with any and everyone.

I'm glad you had such a wonderful birthday.

Now as for the frescoes...I've always wanted to do one yet still haven't. Would you be so kind as to post the directions or should I start googling?

Homemade birthday cake. Yum. Yet another thing I haven't done, and I should feel guilty as George had me buy a cake pan just for that a few years ago. I've been remiss. Maybe I'll correct that next week...James and I are taking eight days off work! We were supposed to go north but now I have five new babies and I'm scared they won't survive without me. Oh well. (I'd show pic's but they are truly faces only a mother could love.)

Lol....if I can get someone else to hold them, I'll take some pics.
George and I call them velociraptor babies as they sound horrible!
