Home Spun reprints #65-67 Painting

I think I may be the only person who can get dirtier by using soap. It's amazing how much paint ends up in the soapdish after my children unleash their creativity... And on the towels... And on the walls...And the furniture...

Sierra has been very creative lately. I've found rubber stamps scattered about amid stamped sheets of paper. My blanket sparkles from spilled glitter. Today I bought her some paper plates after a friend gave us a book of paper plate crafts. Glue, markers and paper snips were strewn across the living room floor. Luckily, she cooperated and cleaned up after herself this time.

Creativity is messy business. I think you have to understand that if you want to nurture your child's imagination. It isn't that I'm happy with seeing the aftermath of an arts and crafts session, but I try to grin and bear it while they are in the moment. When Sierra held up her whirligig and excitedly spoke of the angels she is making for Christmas decorations, I couldn't help but feel that it's worth it.

Of course, it helps that I'm a face-painter and I'm also currently working on an angel. It will be my second recycled plastic sculpture. I'll post pictures when I get further along. I'm waiting for more plastic milk bottles to work with.

My youngest sister seems to have a qnack for making similar messes. ;)

Craft projects can be so much fun! I can't wait to see what your angel looks like. I remember that last one. It was extremely impressive. :)

Oh, those are wonderful! :-) Says the lady whose coffee table -- in the playroom -- is currently decorated with glitter glue.

"Finger painting" - that's cute! It almost makes me long for a little one who is happy to just dabble in paint and glue :-)

I love it when you post reprints - they are worth seeing over and over, especially the blue face and Tobey crying over the baby mammoth. And of course, I love the reminder to visit the cafe. Chase and I know how to enjoy outings! Love, Mom
PS I voted for your blog awards!
