My Readers are the Best!

I am not one to blow my own horn, but I wanted to mention this because I need to acknowledge the people who are so important to this blog: My readers.

This past September I was nominated by one of my readers for Alasandra's Homeschool Blog Awards. This was an unexpected honor, and I'm always very grateful to have such an appreciative audience for my comics and musings.

So it was a great surprise for me to learn I was also nominated in four categories of the Homeschool Blog Awards. I am humbled by your appreciation for my little corner of the blogosphere. These are the categories where you can find my blog:

Best Homeschool Mom Blog
Best Artistic Content Blog
Best Super-Homeschooler Blog
Best Nitty Gritty Homeschool Blog

Wow! Can you feel me blushing? I'm also amused to find I'm nominated as both a Super Homeschooler (I think I need a cape and a cool secret identity) and a Nitty Gritty Homeschooler. As I understand it, a Nitty Gritty Homeschooler is one who tells it like it is and isn't afraid to show her mistakes. Sort of the opposite of a Super Homeschooler. Maybe my humility is my super homeschooler superpower.

I am honored by all of my nomination categories. It is a real boost as I try to figure out what I accomplished for my first quarter reports. Can I count all that time with my relatives as Spanish cultural immersion? If we are taking care of a stray cat who has already ripped out her stitches from spaying twice, should I list that under science or health education? And is there a way I can count all those hours my son played Pirates of the Caribbean online with his dad?

I want every homeschooler reading this to know that you are a Super Homeschooler! I am no different from you! Every one of you has taken the leap to keep your kids home and educate them in your own unique way. We all trip our way along on this wonderful life adventure and it is comforting to know we have friends on the journey. My success is your success.

You are incredibly deserving!

Sadly, I am one of the people having technical difficulties with the polls. It shows I already voted in the Nitty Gritty category even though I didn't. Hopefully that will clear up before the 21st.

Congratulations on your nominations. This is the first time for the blog awards since I entered the blogging community so I'll have fun checking out all the nominations.

Congrats on the nominations!

I think the cat with ripped out stitches should count in both science and heath ed. Have you also considered caring for said stitches to count as art and drama?

Congratulations, Tina! No luck yet on finding someone to take the stray kitty? Good luck with your reports.

wow, four categories!! :^D)

i went and voted for you! i love your comic. :^)

honestly, i wasn't familiar with very many of the blogs that were nominated, which makes me really happy -- i had so many new blogs to investigate, and i knew a lot of new people were probably being exposed to my site as well. the awards are really doing a good service in getting people to look around and see what's out there. :^)

Congratulations! =)

Though I think it's totally stinky that you're not at the top in those categories. Are the rest of the voters bonkers? =)

You should TOTALLY count all that time with your relatives as Spanish cultural immersion. I vote for Health Education with the stray cat. =)

PotC online with Dad? Uhm. History? It's Pirates, right? =)
