Black Belt Tea Ceremony

Last Thursday, Chase was officially made a black belt. He attended a special tea ceremony where he received his new uniform and drank tea with Master Edwards. His uniform has stripes because he completed his citizenship requirement (being a good student and son). At the end of the ceremony, Master Edwards ties Chase's black belt around his own waist and then ties it onto Chase. This signifies the passing of knowledge from teacher to student. He got to keep the teacup, and also received chopsticks (none of us remembers what it was for) and a duck, which came with the tea set and is actually for marriage, so he is now "married" to Tae Kwon Do--the students got a kick out of that.
