Home Spun comic strip #525

Home Spun comic strip #525

It was Chase's cat, Merlin, who first learned the secret of waking the boy. He would walk along Chase's dresser and knock things down, starting small and moving to more breakable objects, until Chase finally gave up and got out of bed to feed him. This gave us many early mornings for learning adventures. And then, the inevitable happened.

Chase learned how to lock his door.

It is the saddest thing to see Merlin mournfully mewing at his boy's door. Mainly because when he gives up he comes into our room. And he knocks things off of our dressers. He also taught Dusty how to do this. Dusty doesn't like to wait for her morning meal, so she's been forcing us out of bed earlier each morning.

If it's Dusty, it must be 6am. Or earlier. Depends on her mood. I'm so sleep deprived...

lol, I hear you! Ours climbs up on the bedhead and dive bombs us - not fun when you're sound asleep!!

My dogs know that it is me they need to come to for anything during the night. And they do. I'm tired, too. Well, that and I've all but given up coffee. I was a pot a day drinker of 1/2 calf until last weekend. Now I'm doing 1 8 oz. cup of joe a day, and even that feels like it is too much.

When Jack Oy, the Porch cat learned to come through the doggie door, I kept a squirt bottle within reach of my hand. I would shoot the offending animal and go back to bed.

I highly recommend this tactic.
I also highly recommend not shooting electronics and pictures.

Ah! See, Dusty is immune to water. We can't even get her out of the sink when we run the water. I think she's part duck. :o)
